She was crowned Miss Teen Northeast Arkansas 2001 in 2001. She then won the titles of Miss Teen Jonesboro in 2002 and Arkansas Junior Miss in 2004.
Perry later auditioned for the role of Marina in The Fresh Beat Band, a popular musical drama series. During her audition, she demonstrated her talent by playing the drums and singing a song by Ketty Perry. Finally, she was chosen for the role by over 500 other candidates that attended the audition. Graduation Day was her first episode as Marina. She first appeared on the show in 2011 and stayed until 2013. She then took over drums and vocals for Shayna Rose.
Tara has also participated in sketches for The Jimmy Kimmel Show and collaborated with well-known groups such as Big Bennessy and Hammer Don’t Hurt ‘Em.
